What is Thai Yoga Massage?

Thai yoga massage incorporates a combination of acupressure, yoga-like stretching, and massaging of muscles, but not massaging as you would imagine with the western way. There is no oil used, the therapist uses a futon on the floor instead of a massage table, and the client remains fully clothed throughout the treatment.

This form of massage is a medical discipline in Thailand, part of a four-year traditional medical degree program. At the other end of the spectrum, healers practice Thai Yoga Massage in many villages.

Thai Yoga Massage can be varied to suit a wide range of physical needs. It will complement any age and abilities and those involved in any level of exercise or activity.

Benefits of Thai Yoga Massage

Thai Yoga Massage has been around for over 2,000 years. The Western world is becoming more aware of this treatment. I have been a massage therapist for over 20 years, working in sports massage. For the past five years, I have developed my massage skills and also use Thai Yoga Massage. The feedback from clients is overwhelming, and many now only have Thai Yoga Massage instead of typical deep tissue Western massages.
