What is Pilates?

Joseph Pilates passed away in 1967, not long before his death he predicted that everyone in the world would know about his training method.

Joseph developed a training method that not only helped those injured during the world wars but also worked with dancers and boxers that flocked to him during his time in New York for advice on conditioning exercises and techniques to overcome their injuries.

Then known as Contrology, Pilates is great for:

Strength

Flexibility

Core Strength

Assisting in lower back, joint and overcoming injury

Posture

Pilates Principles

The principles taught to you during Pilates will teach you to use them in everyday life. You will find yourself using them when working, exercising, moving heavy objects, gardening and all everyday activities. This will help you to protect your body from aches, pains and injuries:

Relaxation

Alignment

Breathing

Centering (core engagement)

Pilates in Towcester

I offer 1 to 1 Pilates sessions in Towcester. These are held in my studio. If you have ongoing posture issues causing pain, then Pilates can help you.

Pilates can also be used to make you stronger at sports. Being an athlete myself, Pilates has helped me become more robust and supported my back muscles during training and competition.

Pilates can also be used alongside Thai Yoga Massage to help you overcome postural complications that cause pain. I work with many people with back conditions using Thai Yoga Massage and Pilates to help them improve or overcome postural pain.
